Astrology is a way of studying the connection between the planets and life on Earth.   It’s based on the idea that energy patterns exist in everything, and as these are the same energy patterns, they can be read from many points of view … it is all related … the fundamental interconnectedness of all things.

An astrological chart, also known as a horoscope, natal chart, or birth chart, records the relationship between the planets and the signs of the Zodiac at an exact time and place. Charts can be calculated for the birth of a person, a community, an event or anything that seems momentous.   A birth chart is calculated for the time and place of your birth, and so your birth chart is as individual and unique as a fingerprint.

The Birth Chart is an indicator of the energies that are likely to be influencing you … it shows the position of the planets according to the sign and house they are in, and the aspects between the planets …

Each planet describes to a different aspect of your personality.

• The sign of each planet is like a filter through which the energy of that planet expresses itself.
• The house placement for each planet is an indicator of the area of your life where you are likely to experience the energy of that planet.
• The aspects between planets suggest how these different aspects of your personality will interact with each other.

The wonderful thing about an astrological analysis is that it provides a complete and complex picture of all of the energies that make up the you that you are.  Inevitably, every chart will contain some contradictory influences … just as every individual experiences what feels like disparate parts of the self, conflicting desires, drives and ways of being.  The beauty of astrology is that is shows these, and this knowledge gives you the insight to understand how to best work with the different parts of self … when is it best to bring out your Mars side?  … your Venus side?  This is the stuff that an in-depth astrological analysis can give you.

Astrology also shows that each person has helpful and difficult influences in their birth chart, and therefore in their lives. The challenge is to accept and use the difficult influences, so that we can get the best out of ourselves, and to know when and how to access the supportive influences.

For an accurate Birth Chart reading, it is important to know your time of birth as accurately as possible.  Time of birth tells us where in the sky each planet was when you were born, whether it was rising, setting or somewhere in between.  This is how we work out the Ascendant and the House placements.
