Jupiter in Cancer

Jupiter, the planet of optimism, fortune and expansion, moved into Cancer this week, the sign of our foundations … our home base and the place where we find our emotional security.  So, expect the next twelve months to be a time when we think big about home and expand our base.  For some this will be a time of family and expanding families.  For some it will be a time of exploring the depths of our psychological base … the place where we feel at home, where we find out security.  And for some it will be a time of nurturing, think big dinner parties for extended families.

Jupiter transits the zodiac every twelve years, taking on average about a year to go through each sign.  And wherever Jupiter is transiting your chart  is the part of your life where yo

u are growing and being challenged to take on more of life.  If you know your birth chart, look at the House where Cancer is, as this is the area where you have the opportunity to expand your consciousness over the next year.

For Cancerians, this is the beginning of a new 12-year cycle of growth and progress.

Expect Cancerians to be in an expansive frame of mind over the next twelve months, as they begin new projects and adventures … if you’re hanging around with a Cancerian, encourage them to be open to new opportunities this year.  This is the year for them to be putting their energy out in order for those projects to manifest (and if you think that through, it also means that Geminis will have been doing this over the last twelve months … etc.).

Similarly, for Leos, this is the last year of their twelve year growth cycle, so it is a time of fulmination of the plans that they started about 12 years ago … if you’re a Leo, think back to what you were doing around 2002, and see what growth path you were initiating then and where you’ve come since.

Preparing for going backwards

Mercury turns retrograde in Cancer on Thursday.  More details about what it means in next post (and of course it doesn’t actually go backwards, it just looks like that from the perspective of the Earth), but in the meantime, if you’ve got any fine detailed thinking to do, it would be a good idea to get as much of it done before Thursday as possible … things like loans to finalise, contracts to sign, tickets to buy, bookings to make, IT systems to network, communication equipment to upgrade, software to install, bookkeeping to sort out … it’s not that you can’t do this stuff after the retrograde begins, just that stuff-ups are more likely to happen then.  Funny timing with the end of financial year and all that, but the next few weeks are not such a good time to be sorting out your tax!

Astrology isn’t causal, it’s just a handy insight into the art of timing …

Cancer caring … week of 23rd June 2013

winter solstice image

At the winter solstice yesterday the Sun moved into Cancer (yep, the two events are linked, it’s the same as how the Sun moves into Capricorn at the summer solstice … and I’m talking about the Southern Hemisphere here), and with Venus and Mercury already in Cancer and Jupiter about to join them next week (on Tuesday), we are indeed in the midst of the sensitive and nurturing energy of the crab … a gentler time than the fervour and frivolity of these past few Gemini weeks.  Venus and Mercury are still hanging out together, so this weekend is a great time for communications that require empathy and sensitivity.  Mercury has slowed down, preparing for its (apparent) retrograde period that starts on the 27th June.  This will be a time when thoughts turn inwards, when it is best to focus on internal processing rather than overt projections … more on Mercury retrograde in next post … Over the next few days the Sun connects into the Grand Water Trine with Saturn and Neptune.  While this won’t be as dreamy as when Venus got mixed up in this trine last week, it should be a time of heightened insight and intuition … this coming week is more of a romantic tear-jerker than an action thriller!!!
