Sag full Moon & Venus opposite Saturn … play time, serious time or playful serious time?

full-moon-300x225

We are building up to a Full Moon in Sagittarius (Friday 13th June, 9.00 am, AEST), which would usually be quite a playful, energetic energy.  Sag full moon is typically party energy, and coming so close to the solstice celebration times, it is a time for fun.  But this time, it is combined with a Venus-Saturn aspect that is likely to tone it down a bit.

Venus is opposite Saturn at 2pm on Friday (AEST), which is a time for seriousness, especially in relating.  Venus is all about how we attract love and bring others to us, while Saturn is all about structure and how we build a future.  When these two planets are in opposition, the combination is a major reality check; a challenge to face what is real in our relating.  That the opposition involves Taurus and Scorpio makes it even more serious … Taurus is earnest, while Scorpio is profound, so this opposition can be inhibiting and controlling if we’re not careful to look for its lessons.  This transit forces us to look at what is working in our relating, to strengthen the depth of relationship through effort and commitment, it is an opportunity for creating the building blocks of love that is to last. But its down side is that intimacy can seem a burden, and doubts can creep in about our own sense of worth and value in a relationship.  This Saturnian energy can put a bit of a dampener on the fun, and make the whole thing of intimacy seem too hard, not worth the effort.  Wisdom is in using the power for building rather than giving up.

So, when you combine the playful Full Moon with this serious relating stuff, it seems to me that the end of this week will be a time when we can bring some lightheartedness to the challenges of getting real with our relationships.  Sure, Saturn is going to make it serious, but at the same time, there is an opportunity with this Full Moon to keep it from getting depressing.  Use the lightness of the Sag moon to overcome the fears of intimacy.  The caution is to be real, and to not miss out on the opportunity for growth that is presenting by losing oneself in the frivolousness of lunar play time!

These two aspects happen on Friday or Saturday, depending on where on this planet you are, and I’m anticipating that we will experience a gradual build up in the intensity of relating stuff over the next few days.

Of course none of this is causal, but it does give a fascinating insight into the fundamental interconnectedness of all things!!!

Mercury and Neptune retrograde … flying with feet on the ground!

stars & ground

I’ve been a little distracted for the last couple of months, so no posts.  It seems that the Grand Cross was even bigger than I was expecting!  Being an Arian, that might also have had something to do with the last weeks of Mars retrograde (Mars rules Aries), but the fiery planet has been forward again for two weeks now, and I’m feeling the energy back and ready to get writing again.  So many radical, transformative and expansive changes in my life; and I can’t help but wonder how the last few months have been for everyone else?

And what a week it is to get back into astro writing, with Mercury turning retrograde (7th June), Neptune also turning retrograde (9th), a Sagittarian Full Moon (12th or 13th, depending on where you are on the planet), combined with Venus opposite Saturn and Mars Square Pluto re-activating the T-square with Uranus. Huge!

Mercury turns retrograde

I’ve written about Mercury retrograde before, and I’m sure you have some idea of the effects (check my previous posts on Mercury retrograde).  Mercury rules things like thinking, organising, communicating, etc., so when it is retrograde, plans tend to go awry, things stuff up, equipment breaks down.  This is a time to take extra care when making arrangements, signing contracts, booking travel, buying IT equipment … double check that the details are right before you press the ‘send’ button!

Neptune turns retrograde

And when you put Mercury and Neptune retrograde together, oh dear!  Talk about vague and fluffy!!  Neptune will be retrograde from 9th or 10th June (again, depending where you are on this planet) until the middle of November, meaning that it’s energy shifts from being externalised to internalised.  Neptune is ethereal and otherworldly, it is spiritual and ideal, it blurs the boundaries of everything it touches, including the intellect and thought, and it both creates and shows that all is illusion.  So, this is a time when the subconscious mind takes over; a great time to take note of dreams and intuitive insights … they probably have something especially important to say at the moment.  But, Neptune is quite nebulous, and the risk when it’s in retrograde is that we can get lost in vagueness and delusion.  It is especially important to stay grounded during this time.  Just let me emphasise that … during Neptune retrograde, we have to do the work to keep our feet on the ground, otherwise we risk being lost in its dreamy clouds of elusiveness and self-delusion.

Hmm … I wonder how that’s going to work with me being on 25 odd hours of international flights while it turns around??  Seriously, whoever planned that hadn’t looked at the astro forecast!!

I’ll talk about the Full Moon, Venus-Saturn and Mars-Pluto aspects in my next post.  In the meantime … enjoy the intuition and be earthed!

The times they are a changin’

These few days of the start of April are powerful and transformative. The Zap Zone, as Mystic Medusa has so eloquently described it, is peaking. This really is evolve or evaporate time.

On April 1 (AEST), The Sun squared Jupiter, on April 2 it joined Uranus, and on April 3 it squares Pluto. The Jupiter aspect was an urge to grow, and being a square, maybe it had a bit of enthusiastic impatience to it, which might have played out as an over-confident push for freedom. Yesterday’s Uranus conjunct added a radical, dynamic, unpredictable energy … an expect the unexpectedness. Plans will have turned upside down, what we thought was safe suddenly disappeared, and what we thought was out of reach sat in our hands. And then when Sun squares Pluto tomorrow, explosive and unpredictable power struggles abound, with unconscious forces at odds with ego drives.

The energy of this week is demanding change … the choice is between clarifying and transforming or holding on and withering. And this energy is building up to the two eclipses we have this month and the Grand Cross of the 22nd of April.

As Bob said, ‘Get out of the new way if you can’t lend a hand, for the times they are a-changing” … interestingly, this is a song from the mid-60’s, when Uranus and Pluto were last conjunct. Now is time for us to take up the challenge of the revolution that began then, and to get this transformative change back on track …
