Uranus forward – babies and bathwater

There’s a couple of interesting little shifts in the cosmos over the next few days that are worth being aware of.  Uranus turns forward today (Tuesday 17th) after being in retrograde motion since mid-July, and Venus turns retrograde on Saturday until the end of January.

For those who’ve been reading my posts, you’ll know that I hold some stead in the forward-retrograde cycle of planets (and remember that this motion is relative to Earth, they are not actually going backwards, just that the variations in the orbiting paths of planets around the sun makes it look that way from our perspective).  When a planet is in retrograde its energy is more internalised, more subjective.  We feel it on the inside, but it doesn’t necessarily manifest in the outer world.

So, Uranus turning forward suggests that the Uranian energies will become more outwardly expressed.  Uranus is the ‘expect the unexpected’ planet, it stirs things up, generating a sense of unease and discomfort as a pre-cursor to creating change, and at times radical change.  It is the planet that says ‘this old stuff is not working, it’s time to do something different’.  The planet of revolutions.  Since mid-July we have probably been experiencing this energy from the inside, with Uranus retrograde challenging us to see where we need to make change in our lives.  With Uranus turning forward, the opportunity presents to manifest these internal stirrings in outward change.  This will be experienced on both an individual and a collective level.  Expect personal breakthroughs and dramatic global shifts, both geographic and political, over the coming months as this energy frees itself from its internalised constraints.

The turn around to forward motion will probably feel a little unsettling over the next few days … restlessness, sleeplessness, irritability, and an itch to upset the status quo.  Go with the change if that’s what you want, but do it with consciousness … the warning with any Uranus activity is don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater.

The added challenge is that as Uranus moves forward (it is in Aries at about 8 degrees at the moment), it is moving back into the ‘evolve or evaporate’ square with Pluto.  And, over the Christmas – New Year period Mars is opposite Uranus, and forming a T-Square with Pluto.  There is likely to be an extra layer of complexity to this already sensitive time of the year.  More on this in another post soon.

And more about Venus turning backwards tomorrow.

Messy weirdness or weird messiness?

Ok, so there’s a good chance the next few days could be a bit weird!  With the combination of an eclipsed Aries full Moon (Saturday morning for those in Eastern Australia), Mars opposite Neptune (Sunday) and Mercury turning retrograde (Monday) there is a high likelihood of misunderstandings and confusion.

An eclipse is a time when emotions (Moon) are in shadow, we are disconnected from our feelings.  So, we can feel out of sorts and act out of character.  And when you get that happening to everyone at the same time, weirdness ensues!  As this full Mooon is in Aries, watch out especially for Arians and Librans (and of course Cancerians, because they get whatever is happening to the Moon), they’ll be feeling it hte strongest.

The Mars-Neptune aspect is a physical and a psychic wobble … Mars is about physical energy, assertiveness, the yang nature.  Neptune blurs the boundaries of everything it touches, it both creates and shows the illusion of it all.  So, when these two planets are pulling in opposite directions we can get anything from clumsiness on a physical level to deceptions and delusions on an intention or spiritual level.  It is not really a great time for precision in interactions, so don’t bother getting drawn into discussions of the minutiae … it’ll just end in a messy argument! But it probably is a great time to spend in the spa or the sea (with Neptune being so watery).

And then there is Mercury going retrograde, which I’ve talked about before, essentially the things ruled by Mercury (communications) don’t quite work in a straight line … Mercury retrograde 26th June – 21st July 2013. and here … Mercury retrograde is not an excuse for stuffing up!.

Put all that together and I reckon that the next few days are going to be just a little tricky, especially when it comes to communicating or expecting that our communications have been precisely delivered!  It is a time for allowing and being forgiving, rather than judging and expecting.  A time for fantasy and dreams, rather than illusion and differences.  A time for calm and flow, rather than control and certainty …

And of course it’s not causal, just a reflection of the fundamental interconnectedness of all things …

Uranus retrograde … ructions in the cosmos 18 July 2013

Uranus turns retrograde this week, until mid-December.  The effect of any retrograde planet, like with Mercury, is that its energy is exacerbated but internalised.  Uranus is all about revolution, invention, technology … it is the expect the unexpected planet. As it transits through Aries, this suggests some kind of cultural and technological revolution at the same time as a strong and potentially disruptive drive for freedom and independence.  During this retrograde period it again closes up the Square with Pluto (exact at the end of October), giving us an opportunity for deep evolution at a personal, the kind of evolution that can eventually play out in a global and political level (hmm, it’ll be interesting times for an election … expect more of the unexpected when it comes to power plays).  For the moment though, combining Uranus retrograde with the Grand Water Trine, I anticipate that the next week will offer flashes of brilliant intuitive insight … take note of the wacky stuff, there’s likely to be a message in it somewhere, but it won’t be the one you planned for!!
