Really? Another retrograde? This time its Mars and Saturn.

This year started with a period of Venus retrograde (relating was internalised) followed by Mercury retrograde (communicating and thinking was intenralised) which ended yesterday.  And just when it seems like all is about to be forward moving, and the flow is going to return, we are about to get a 3-month dose of Mars retrograde (assertiveness and physical energy internalised) and a 4-month dose of Saturn retrograde (form and the constructed self is internalised).

Mars retrograde will feel like road blocks, delays and hesitations.  This is not the planning and communication stuff-ups of Mercury retrograde, but more that there just isn’t the energy there to get stuff done, or that some conflict gets in the way of desire and intention happening.  Be especially mindful of the Mars ruled beings (ie, us Arians), as we’re unlikely to feel our usual energetic selves, especially towards the end of this retrograde, which finishes late May.  Interestingly, we (ie, us Arians) are all going to have a retrograde Mars in our birthday charts this year, suggesting it will be a slower, less expressive or active year for us.

Generally, during Mars retrograde, the things that Mars rules, like passion, motivation, sex, will experience delays and obstacles, that divert proactiveness to frustration. This is a time that demands patience, and appreciation for the slowness; qualities which we can actually acquire in times like these.

An impatient revolution … Jupiter square Uranus

Today is a day of impatiently wanting to change the world!!

Jupiter has hit exact square with Uranus, again sparking off the energy of the Uranus-Pluto Square that is defining our times.  With this particular aspect, we get the boundless enthusiasm of Jupiter in its pursuit of meaning and higher ideals, coming up against the anarchic force of Uranus seeking freedom and sweeping away anything that is blocking its path.  It is impetus for change, no doubt, but there might just be a wee bit of impatience in the process.  Likely as not, the feeling of wanting to shift has been building for the last week or so, and this aspect brings opportunity and push to make stuff happen.  These are energies not to waste … now is the time to make change. The caution with Jupiter square Uranus is about being over-confident, mistaking arrogance for genius and letting the enthusiasm go in an undirected path.  And with Mercury still in its last few days of retrograde, it is useful to take a moment and a deep breath before pushing the send button.  But push it anyway! Who knows what’s on the other side?!

a dash of vagueness

This Mercury retrograde begins with the mercurial planet conjunct Neptune in Pisces, which may well add a little vagueness, especially for the next few days.  This influence will  hang around in some way for the whole retrograde period, and probably until Mercury comes back to the conjunction with Neptune, around 23rd March.

Where Mercury is precise and detailed, Neptune is nebulous and vague.  Mercury is rational and logical, while Neptune is intuitive and imaginative.  Mercury is the mind in mundane life, while Neptune is at one with spirit.  And in Pisces, the Neptunian qualities will be exacerbated, meaning that there is a chance for delusion to go along with the heightened imagination.

So, you put all that together, and it is unlikely that the mind will be working in a straight line, especially this weekend!  If it all seems perplexing, bewildering, befuddling … then that’s probably because it is! Go with it.

But, looking on the positive side, the interaction between Mercury and Neptune is a channel between the logical mind and  intuitive.  Used wisely, this is a magical time for connection with higher consciousness.
